Great article! I’ve always thought that using music is just another way to distract yourself from what you’re doing, being in that moment fully aware. I guess many people just don’t like the gym and it’s the only way to feel that the repetitive nature of the practice is enriched with some additional sauce to it.
But as you point out, maybe keep using music but not every time you hit the gym. Combine it with mindful practices once in a while.
