Haha, yes, Chris' mother might have had some IQ problems with that part. And you bring up a good point there. The family's nurture and support are key in forming the child into a more emotionally and intellectually fit person.
If you compare Chris' development to another brilliant mind like Oppenheimer, you'll see how Oppenheimer's family helped him be more fit to question authority and socially more competent, which served him very well over the years.
Chris wasn't diagnosed with autism and the way he socializes doesn't suggest being on the spectrum. I think it was more about a tough upbringing that molded him with some characteristics that ended up playing against his "success".
