I like the approach with "what are you passionate about" but when you ask about your story could this eventually lead to a too broad narrative? I mean it could cause rejection ("I don't even know you and you want me to tell you all about me") or encouragement for this person to go to places you didn't sign up for.

Anyway, the narrative has to change and we should stop asking people what do they do, there are other ways to make a conversation more interesting.
