I use music to get in the flow all the time!

I've come to think of it as classical conditioning, where you create a physical association between music and your mental state, and every time you activate music it will lead to having that mental state again and again. By linking those two together repeatedly your body doesn't have an alternative and it will be triggered to generate the outcome you've conditioned it to.
