I was in a Waldorf school and we all had to learn an instrument in part because it helped us develop our temperament and our identity. Since every instrument was paired specifically with a type of personality, playing your instrument was an act of polishing your character.

We need to get involved in music more deeply and not just stay on the outside as passive listeners.
