It's a tricky relationship between artists and labels, and historically artists have been treated with injustice.

Labels tended to have the upper hand (distribution channels, networks, money required to invest in music production, etc.) but I think artists today have gained more power thanks to technology and awareness about the industry.

I hope we get to see a more balanced industry sooner than later.
