This also reminds me of malls and casinos. They don't want you to feel the passing of time, and the guilt that comes from spending your time in just that ONE place.
They want to keep you in the store, but sometimes when there are too many people, they put high paced music to enhance a rotation of customers. You don't perceive it consciously, but your body starts to synch to the tempo and thus, move faster.
