This reminds me of the documentary "Kiss the Ground". We've been very unwise with the way we use our fertile soil. We just look at it for short-term gains, and now we're seeing the negative consequences of those actions.
There are multiple issues to take care of. I recently wrote an article on new ways to improve our harvest methods and not end up tossing valuable food before it even gets to the consumer. For instance, between 20% — 40% of fruits being harvested never reach the consumer. That's insane!
