While reading your article I remembered Cixin's book The Dark Forrest and how we might want to stay hidden in this universe's darkness. As preys that don't want to reveal their position for fear of being attacked.

What if dark matter is interconnected and once we understand it and use it we reveal our position to the rest of the alien's species?

Or dark matter once manipulated can be the key to a new weapon, like when we started manipulating the atom. Unless we're not evolved enough as a society, knowing too much can be our perdition.
