I’m glad it was eye-opening for you. I was also baffled when I first found out about this phenomenon. There’s certainly something in music we could use more often.

I think it’s too early to tell if the changes are due to the music style or frequency. When the bacteria are stimulated with music, they interact with different frequencies so you could say that a certain song shows a certain frequency range compared to another one. Studies have been focused on music styles rather than individual sounds (which will be more appropriate if you’d like to know the effect of the frequency variable).

They’re different orders of magnitude. Frequency is one component of the whole mix while music consists of multiple parameters (structure, pitch, tempo, frequency, etc.). I hope we can have more studies that first tackle those different components one by one!

The Mundus facility in Germany made its own sound system installation. I couldn’t find any specifics on the schematics, but I read somewhere that the cost of this system was around $500 per month, much cheaper than having an orchestra!
