You made me think about all those instrument classes where the student would always play what was assigned to them instead of including their own music preferences in the teaching process. How do you get a kid hooked to music and make them practice if there's nothing that relates to them in the music they're learning?

As a music student, I always had that concern and now that I give some music classes I always encourage my students to show me their musical preferences and we try to incorporate them into our music program. And they love it!
